celebrate labor day the right way

For some, Labor Day means the last day to wear white, and for others it means a day off from work. Around here it means a day that we can relax by the pool or lake with our family and friends, and of course with a cocktail in hand. We’ve got the perfect recipe for you to ring out white for the season.

This light and refreshing drink will pair perfectly with whatever you’re doing this Labor Day weekend. It’s also a great way to use some of your fresh mint from your garden! This blueberry mojito blends together the bright, sweet flavor of blueberries with the refreshing accents of mint straight from your garden (or the grocery store, we understand). The best part about this drink is that it’s super simple to throw together.

First you need to gather all of your ingredients. Grab some blueberries, mint leaves, some sugar in the raw, a little fresh lime juice, light rum, crushed ice, and some chilled Prosecco or champagne. Put all ingredients into whatever pretty glass (preferably 12 oz) that you would like to use. We like our swig tumblers for outdoor use - keeps our drinks cold and if they tip over, no glass breakage Then, (if you’re a professional drink maker) grab your muddling tool (or if you’re not a pro) you can grab a spoon, and muddle the ingredients until the blueberries have released their juices.

Next, fill the glass with crushed ice and graciously pour the rum over, stir it up, and top with the sparkling drink of your choice and garnish with extra mint and blueberries. (and then snap a cute picture to tease all your friends!)

That’s it! Now you have a beautiful and delicious drink to celebrate Labor Day. Of course we would recommend getting into your outdoor space and soaking up that vitamin d. As we like to say “life outdoors is life fully lived.”
